New Style Alert! A Reveal of Our Brand New 2020 Styles!

New Style Alert!

It’s been 2020 for more than a couple months now, but we’ve JUST experienced all the fashion weeks and thus were inspired to add new styles to our repertoire. So scroll down to see all the new styles we currently offer and let us know what you think!

So even though we were inspired by the recent Paris Fashion Week we also have been paying attention to our client’s style needs and desires over the past year. This inspired us to keep some styles and ditch others for new styles that have been requested over and over again. There’s a total of eight women’s styles available now and more styles in the works for men!

In this blog post, we’ll introduce you to some old favorites that we’ve kept and some new styles we’ve incorporated into our Deluxe and Thrift boxes. And here’s the awesome news! - Instead of choosing a celeb inspiration we’ve allowed our clients to choose TWO styles instead of just one! We know that sometimes you’re a cross between one style or another (or hey maybe a cross between three). However, Cratejoy only lets us choose two at the moment. We wanted to let you choose two. So now you can choose two different styles in your customer profile! However, we know that sometimes you’re only one style (my best friend in college was only Pastel Goth and nothing else) so if that’s the case then you can just choose one and select ‘other’ for your second style choice. We thought it would be better though to have that second choice just in case.

If you’re new to us - subscribe here at our Cratejoy website! We’ll ship your first box after only one week!

We’ve Kept Our Minimal and Classic Casual Styles!

Our Minimalist and Classic Casual styles were our most popular, but we’re constantly updating them according to new looks we see on the streets, in blogs and recent fashion editorials. Minimalism isn’t the same as it was four years ago and classic casual is becoming more fun with prints and colors for spring. Of course your style will always be tailored to what works for you and what you like so we’re working on more one-on-one contact this year so that we can tailor each experience to be as custom as possible.

New Styles - Intellectual Chic, Rocker Boho and Indie Grunge!

We’ve revamped our old ‘Librarian Chic’ style to our new ‘Intellectual Chic’ and ‘Indie Grunge’ styles. We started to see a more grungy hipster style take form these past couple years that offer a more relaxed casual approach to new wave styles such as 90’s high waisted denim, converse chucks, and tucked in graphic t-shirts. We also know that a lot of our clients love the bookish look of our old ‘Librarian Chic’ which we renamed ‘Intellectual Chic’. Both styles will still include soft trendy knits, but Intellectual Chic will have a more feminine approach than the tom-boyish ‘Indie Grunge’ style. We also introduced a new style called ‘Rocker Boho’ since we noticed that there were a lot of requests for band t-shirts and boho type skirts, dresses, and florals that you normally wouldn’t find in ‘Indie Grunge’ or ‘Intellectual Chic’. It’s more of a rock n’ roll approach to boho.

We’ve Also Kept Our Infamous Modern Sophisticate & Eclectic Styles!

Our Modern Sophisticate and Eclectic styles were also our most popular. Let’s face it, to the modern business woman time is money and valuable AF, so we understand why this service is so important. Also, part of the thrill of thrifting is finding that one-of-a-kind piece that you would NEVER find at a retail shop no matter how high-end it is. Thus, why our Eclectic style has shined as well. We also service a lot of people in creative industries so we understand that dressing unique even in a corporate environment can not only be empowering but satisfying.

Introducing Our New Trendsetter Style!

So we all know that one friend that follows all the trends or wants to. Heck, with thrifted clothing it’s almost a shoe-in. I mean, secondhand is a great way to experiment with the latest trends, such as the padded shoulders, culottes, and jumpers! This style category is for the fashionista at heart (similar to myself) that uses thrift to make a boost in your closet and give it that flavor that it needs. Unlike the Eclectic style, it’s more based on the current trends happening now in high fashion and less about the one-of-a-kind unique pieces (although we can certainly incorporate both).

And Then We Have Goth and Streetwear! Beauty in A Different Light!

These two styles have been around for a while, however, they’ve recently morphed into different takes and adaptations within the past decade. 2000’s goth and streetwear are slightly different than it is today. We LOVE these two new styles and so do our clients, thus why we decided to incorporate them into our 2020 style group. Streetwear is more along the lines of the athleisure movement that’s cropped up in the past five years (think modern Sporty Spice). It’s sexy but powerful and not afraid of what anyone thinks, which is similar to our new Goth | Pastel Goth style category as well. All forms of goth are welcome in our goth category so don’t hesitate to choose it if you’re more of a witchy goth than pastel. We LOVE all things black!

And Last But Not Least…..Our New Romantic Style!

So this romantic style is more boho fem and less rocker edge. It’s so girly and beautiful it’ll make you fall in love, literally. It’s all the lace and embroidery one can muster and it’s oh so dreamy. The hills are alive with the sound of chiffon, taffeta, cotton, and silk! It’s easy to see this style as a staple for spring/summer but it can also be a winter option with a classic sherpa jacket and suede boot or even a velvet wrap. We separated our boho into both the edgy ‘Rocker Boho’ and this category that was more feminine because we noticed a different request for both. So welcome Romantic!

A Curated Thrift Packaging

We’ve also implemented a new package if you haven’t noticed, but I’m sure you have.

One of our biggest changes this year was the packaging. We were able to source a new company called Noissue that offers 100% compostable bags, stickers and tissue paper. And while most company’s think it’s too expensive or too much of a hassle to use eco-friendly packaging it’s actually the complete opposite. If only people would research and spend a little more time, we all would be able to change the world. It was almost too easy to switch from recycled cardboard boxes to completely compostable bags and stickers. Their compostable mailers are made from a combination of PBAT, a bio-based polymer that is compostable, and PLA which is made up of plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw. Their use of PLA makes up barely 0.05% of the annual global corn crop, making it an incredibly low-impact resource. Literally it will disintegrate into the earth once it hits a landfill, which is amazeballz, to say the least! I mean, honestly, I don’t know why anyone would want to use that pesky bubbly wrap mailer anymore that takes 500 YEARS TO DECOMPOSE into the earth!

One of the reasons we started A Curated Thrift was to not only change the way people bought clothes but also to protect our environment and change corporate behavior and this is a great start! We also incorporate recycled flyers and envelopes in our boxes as well. Even though cardboard boxes usually decompose within two months, the printing on the front of the box is sometimes more harmful to the environment than the actual box, but NOT with these mailers! So thank you to Noissue we are able to keep those landfills cleaner along with the use of secondhand clothing!
